Martial Arts School UES : Karate City Parent’s Insights

Martial Arts School UES :  When your child begins training in karate, they will start to see an increase in fitness. However, it is essential to maintain a balance in physical activity. Here we explore how many times a week your child should train. The number of sessions a child does will depend on their age and how long they have been training.

How often should my child train in karate?

Karate classes for kids give them the chance to learn new skills and start a healthy journey. Training will increase flexibility and fitness. While physical activities are great for your child, overtraining can be detrimental. At Karate City, we help to provide the structure and schedule for training that is most suitable for your child. Everyone has an individual path, and we will determine the best number of sessions for your child.

The class program makes it possible to train once a week, although twice a week is more effective. As an introduction to the sport of karate, twice a week will be the ideal number of training sessions. As your child attends classes, they will, as a consequence, become fitter. This allows for additional training sessions in their weekly schedule.

After a child has been training with us for around two years, training usually increases to four times a week. As they move up the belt ranks, more exercise can become part of the weekly routine. Once a child achieves the red belt, we will train five times a week for optimal results.

What is the right amount of karate training sessions?

As each child becomes fitter and moves along the belt ranking system, the training regimen will change. Each child is an individual and will train following the recommendations of the instructor. As a general rule, we find the progression in karate is as follows:

  • Beginners train twice a week

  • After two years, training increases to 4 times a week

  • Red belt and upwards can train up to 5 times a week

We personalize the approach to karate training for your child; therefore, not every child will follow a set path. As they progress and develop at their own pace, their training schedule will reflect this. Martial Arts School UES
