Kids Martial Arts UES: Sports are an excellent way for your child to make new friends and grow as an individual. However, too much physical activity is not always a good thing. We explore why fewer activities are better for children.

How much is too much?

The current trend leans to an idea that every child must be doing as many activities as possible. Sports are an excellent choice for your child, but too much can be detrimental. Keeping children overly busy is a common thing. It can give them less of a foundation to build on as their focus is spread too thin.

A variety of activities is beneficial but too many sports can lead to overtraining. When you overtrain, it can cause enzymes in the liver to reduce. An overactive lifestyle packed with too much sporting activity can cause a drop in energy. Your child may find it hard to bounce back and lose motivation altogether.

What is the right amount of activities?

Sports are physically demanding. Because of this, we don’t recommend more than two sports for a child. As with anything, it’s all about finding the right balance. Your child’s after school clubs and activities should include:

  • Sports – no more than two
  • Creative activities

Practicing lots of different sport can lead to less focus on each thing. A child doing too many sports will not be able to put maximum effort into each activity. Kids Martial Arts UES.
